By Air

• Maun is the primary international link with Botswana via Johannesburg and Harare and secondary links through Gabarone, Windhoek, Victoria Falls, Nairobi, Dar-es-Salaam, Lilongwe, Lusaka and a few other regional airports.
• Light aircraft charters are a common feature of safaris in Botswana, Maun and Kasane are the main internal hubs, with most of the camps having their own airstrips.

By road

• Botswana's infrastructure on the ground isn't easy - some of the best safaris will entail various combinations of vehicle, light aircraft and boat usage in order to complete.
• If you're undertaking a self-drive safari then make sure that you plan it well.
• In all cases accept that even the best laid plans sometimes unravel at the edges - if and when this happens, take it in your stride and smile!
