Who are we?

River Horse Safaris is run by Ant and Denise Elton and their team in Kariba, Zimbabwe. They specialise in one day safaris in Kariba and canoe safaris on the lower Zambezi River. They have proven to be the most innovative small safari operation in Kariba over the last few years. Ant started canoe safaris with Shearwater and managed the Kariba operations for several years before setting up River Horse Safaris. He's always keen on a deal, a new angle and/or a cold beer!

River Horse Safaris run the following:

• The "4 in 1", one day safari. This includes a game drive through the Kaburi Wilderness, a walk with a Professional Guide in the Charara Safari Area, a canoe trip up the Nyaodza River to "hippo city" and a boat cruise on Lake Kariba. This safari is also run on a customised "3 in 1" or "2 in 1" combination for ¾ or ½ day options.

• This is unquestionably the best one day safari option in Kariba - ideal as a "introductory" day trip for clients moving onto canoe or walking safaris in the Zambezi Valley or for those short on time and keen on a taste for the best.

Lower Zambezi Canoeing

River Horse run canoe safaris on the lower Zambezi River from the Zambian side. The most popular is the 4 day trip from the Kafue to Chongwe rivers - the Zambian equivalent of the Chirundu to Mana Pools canoe safari. For details - follow the links!
